Use of 16-bit BASIC in Windows x64

Hi, all.

Just to comment that if you install Windows x64 Edition (in any flavor:
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista) you will be unable to use
or install any 16-bit BASIC compiler or IDE (or program in any language).
This OS can be used in any AMD64 processor (Athlon 64, Turion 64, Opteron
and Sempron) and Intel64 processors (Pentium D 9xx series, Pentium 4 6xx
series, and Core2Duo).

I am a BASIC lover, as many of you already know, so I will concentrate in
the BASIC language. This is a behavior due the hardware technology itself
and not a problem with Windows x64. The walkthrough for this is to use
Virtual Machines. You can install the Microsoft VirtualPC
(www.microsoft.com/virtualpc) tool to install there any 16- and 32-bit
Operating System needed to do your work.

Is good to know that the new AMD64 processors (AM2 based [except Sempron],
S1 Based [except Sempron], and F based) and some Intel64 processors (check
model number in Intel site) includes hardware virtualization that eases the
execution of the Virtual Machine, so this VM will run almost at full speed.
Nedless to say that is needed enough memory to run a virtual machine. Maybe
2GB in a x64 machine will do.
