I have a VB6 application that has OLE links to several excel spreadsheets.
When I first built the application, several years ago, the links showed the
icon for excel. I've recently made some mods to the application and the
links no longer show the excel icon, however the links do work. I've tried
specifying different icons for the linked object and it seems that any icon
specified with a '.ico' extension will work but non of the microsoft excel
icons work. I've made sure that 'Display as Icon' checkbox is checked.
This app was originally written in VB6 on an NT machine. I am still using
VB6 but my pc is XP pro SP2.

Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts or suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks
Jim

Also forgot to mention that I'm now using Microsoft Office Professional
Edition 2003 and the app was originally written using a much earlier version
of office.

More information-

It seems that Microsoft Office Professional 2003 is in error. All earlier
releases of Office will permi the Excel Icon to be displayed on linked
objects.

FWIW - I've used a different icon as a work-around.
