I'm trying to develop an application in VB.NET 2003 for managing machines on
Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1. I have the application running on Windows XP, but
I don't know how to register the file Microsoft.VirtualServer.Interop.dll for
deployment on Windows 2000 Professional clients. I tried to create an install
with Install Shield developer, but it wouldn't register the file properly.

How do I register the dll on Windows 2000 Professional machines? I'm only
installing it on a small number of clients, so even a list of manual steps
would be fine.

If I understand you correctly, it should have worked.

But you are actually in the wrong newsgroup. Try these...
microsoft.public.dotnet.distributed_apps
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.interop

You can find a complete list of managed (dotNet) newsgroups here:
