the situation
a user has made a template in word (.dot)
the first line in the body of that template, is a 1 row table,with in each
cell a word (a word such as "article",not a word document)
what i need to do,with vb6 and word automation:
i need to know how many cells there are in that table row,and what word is
in what cell
tia

because that template is made by a user
it actually is a template for an invoice 'as it is made by the user'
the user just makes the header/footer in word
and the table for the detail 'as the user wants it'
the 'words' the user puts in the table are in fact tokens i tell the user
can use
such as >,>,etc...for the header
>,>,>,etc...for the detail
and i replace those tokens with the real values that come from a query that
is an extremely denormalized view of the tables used by the invoice
